Standing with them is the journalist Mohammad al-Farhani. The two premiers had worked in the anti-Ottoman and anti-French movements from the 1910s onward. Hakim became Prime Minister in 1941 and 1951, whereas Khury assumed the job in 1943-1945, and then again in 1954. The photo was taken during their political retirement, one year into the Syrian-Egyptian Union.
