Midhat Sheikh al-Ard traveled to Saudi Arabia and worked as a physician to King Abdul-Aziz from the 1920s until the monarch's death in 1953. After which, he became Minister of State in Saudi Arabia, then served as ambassador to France, Spain, and Switzerland. He also served as Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva until 1990.
